If you’ve visited the Sharing Preference panel in the newer versions of Mac OS X you may have noticed there is no longer the direct option to enable an FTP server to share files and folders. Be sure the port is set to 22 and click connect. Open any SFTP supported FTP client (We use Cyberduck) enter your IP address, your account username to login to your Mac and your password. With remote login enabled, your sftp server on your Mac is enabled and you should be able to connect to your Mac with SFTP.
